The Most Interesting Alien Encounter Novel

By Brian Robinson

People are always the heroes or main characters in novels on alien invasion. It is rare to find a serious alien encounter novel that tackles the struggle between animals or birds from different planets. In most cases, the plots are about retaliation after attack, missions that encounter aliens or defense during attacks. The heroes have a responsibility of protecting their world and people from enslavement.

Enders Game is the work of Scott Orson and hit the shelves in 1985. When the book was being released, most people knew very little about space compared to what is known today. The classic sci-fi release remains popular today because of the violent encounters and heroism by the children involved. The children are attacked when training at a space station. It has won both the Nebula and Hugo awards.

1959 saw the release of Starship Troopers which is captivating to-date. The author needed to respond when his critics bayed for his blood because of his views on nuclear testing at the time. Childhood Ends is said to have emanated from events in London during the Second World War where blimps dominated the London skies. It tells a story of friendly invasion where some Overlords took over the world, resolved all conflicts and established a single government. They fell out with humanity because of operating from their space ships and failing to disclose their origin.

The War of Worlds is among the oldest novels written about foreign invasion. It sometimes slips into the scientific romance category. The interesting part is how the author enjoys annihilating an entire neighborhood. He seems to enjoy this considering the description he makes to his friend. The words used to refer to the act of obliteration are painful yet eccentric. Though released in 1898, it remains a thriller.

The Mote in Gods Eye is a futuristic novel though written in 1974. The setting is 3016 where the Second Empire of Man incorporates thousands of stars. Man uses the Anderson Drive that travels faster than light. Man has not discovered any other terrestrial existence until one of the missions returns with a dead alien. This prompts a search expedition that has a lot to offer to readers.

Spin is a sci-fi marvel that incorporates recent space discoveries in its narrative. This is why the book has gained traction with readers today. The first scene features a boy observing the sky with fascination. This is after man conquered the moon and sun but cannot explain the tides. Creative ingenuity helps Robert Wilson to capture the attention of the reader in this book released in 2006.

The Day of Triffids is the 1951 work of Wyndham John. It remains an outstanding title among the post-apocalyptic titles. A large part of the world population goes blind after a comet shower.
